Early Monday morning, the new district realignment was announced on television as well as posted on numerous sports websites.

As of the 2010-11 season, Lufkin will no longer compete with the New Caney Eagles, who dropped to 4A, but are faced with two new opponents from the Houston area, Humble Atascocita and Humble Kingwood.

“It will be a whole lot easier to get,” Coach Todd Quick said referring back to the many years in the past that Lufkin traveled through these areas to play former opponents.

“I don’t think it’s the new teams we should be worried about but it all depends on if we show up or not,” Coach Green stated.

District 14-5A includes Lufkin, Conroe Oak Ridge, The Woodlands, The Woodlands-College Park, Humble Atascocita and Humble Kingwood.
