LHS Students Contend at UIL District Meet

LHS displayed its collection of academically inclined students last weekend at the University Interscholasitic League (UIL) District Tournament.
For those unaware, UIL is academic competition that schools from around the state contend with each other for a spot at the state tournament, which is the final round of UIL competition.
The District Tournament was the first round of UIL competition. The students that advanced by placing high enough in their respective events will continue on to the UIL Regional Tournament held on April 24th and 25th.

Headline Writing:

Lincoln Douglas Debate:
1st: Carlos Lamkin

4th: Mary Perkins
5th: Renu Deshpande
News Writing:
2nd: Vicky Camarillo

Overall, Lufkin did well at the tournament and will be preparing for Regionals in hopes of advancing to the state tournament held in May.
