The Student Advisory Council woke up early Tuesday morning to honor and thank LISD school board member Trent Ashby in the Library. Along with S.A.C., many teachers and other faculty attended the annual commemoration of  school board members.

Ashby, before moving to Lufkin, worked under Congressman Jim Turner’s offoce in Washington, DC seven years.
Ashby was elected to the school board in 2007. He also serves on the boards of the Lufkin Host Lions Club, Executive Director of the Texas Forest Country Partnership and the Lufkin/Angelina Co. Chamber of Commerce, and is the Chair of the Vision 2020 Government Foundation.

Ashby thanked everyone and spoke briefly letting the crowd know he appreciated the efforts they went to show gratitude.

“Thank you all so much, and I want you to all know that my door’s always open,” said Ashby.

Ashby continued on in his speech getting a few laughs here and there, but finished up by letting everyone know that his number’s available for anyone to call and he would be happy to help anyone who asks for it.
