When the new facilities at Jase Magers soccer field are through being built, they won’t necessarily be ready for use. There are still more supplies needed to ultimately complete the project. In order to raise money to purchase the basic provisions, the girls junior varsity and varsity soccer teams will be working at Sonic this Saturday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m.

According to junior varsity Coach Nikki Forrest “all the tips the girls make will be the money they get to keep.”

Elisabeth Levens, vice president of the Lady Pack Soccer Booster Club, set up the event.

“We needed more money to supply the concession stand,” she said. “I’ve seen the Lufkin football players work at Sonic to earn money so I figured it would be a good way for the girls to contribute and help out by making money for those supplies.”

Senior soccer player Kendelle Porter is glad to be a part of the project.

“This is kind of our way of giving back to the parents who got this idea started,” Porter said. “Our parents worked hard for us to get these facilities built and it’s the least we can do to earn some extra money to support the cause.”
