Students Vote for Prom King and Queen

Prom king and queen nominations have taken place as of yesterday and continued on through today during all three lunches.

“The outcome hasn’t been too big but it picked up during second lunch today,” Marcia Waller, who is over the prom  nominations, said.

The queen nominations consist of Whitney Duke, Anne Fenley, Jasmine Grimaldo, Lauren Henderson, Hannah Langford, Lesley Lerma, Brittany Maxey, Chasity Monschein, Brittney Moreland, Yashema Richards, Corrinn Robinson, and JulieAnne Rodriguez. King nominees are Jacob Adams, Desmond Darden, Agustin “Tin” Enriquez, John McCoy, JaMarkus McFarland, Sterling Meyers, Germard Reed, Dylan Sowell and Tyrone Underwood.

“Juniors and seniors vote for three guys and girls from the list and we run the scantrons through and then choose the court today,” Waller said.

“The first place winner has to clearly be outstanding and have more votes than second and third place runner ups combined,” Waller said. “That is the only reason a run-off would be needed.”

The prom court will be announced on prom night, April 4, 2009, at about 10 p.m., and the prom king and queen will be announced shortly afterward, according to Waller.
