Big plays; Bigger pay

Lufkin Panther Head Coach John Outlaw and two of his graduating Senior Football players accepted on behalf of Lufkin High School Jan. 21 an exceptional cash prize.
According to Coach Outlaw, the Lufkin representative from State Farm contacted him by e-mail with information about a new program State Farm had begun called “Friday Night Feats”.
To enter the competition, a school simply had to take a big play recorded during the current football season and upload it onto a Youtube account. From there, winners were decided by consumer rating upon the Youtube site.
“We had just finished playing Longview where [Quinn] Trimble had the good catch and [James] Duirden knocked that guy’s helmet off, so I told [Luke] Goode to send it in,” Outlaw said.
The combination of wideout Trimble’s incredible hail mary reception and linebacker Duirden’s jaw-jarring tackle for a loss led to Lufkin being named a State Farm Zone Winner and $2,500 prize.
Videos can still be found on Youtube under the tag name “Friday Night Feats 1″ and “Friday Night Feats 2.”
