The Lady Panthers battled against the Conroe Lady Tigers Tuesday only to lose the game with a score of 3-0.
During the first half, the Lady Panthers played slow allowing Conroe offense to score an easy goal into the right corner of the net.
Starting the second half down by one goal, the Lady Panthers came out stronger and gained control of the game; however, keeping possession of the ball was not enough to win the game.
“We dominated the game, but at the end of the day it doesn’t matter who had the ball more it matters who put the ball in the back of the net,” senior defender Caitlin George said. “We just couldn’t finish.”
Unfortunately for the Panthers the game did not end at a score of 1-0. The Tigers made two more goals off of free kicks within the last few minutes of the game to end it with a score of 3-0.
Lufkin’s senior captain Kendall King believes her team was the better team and will prove it next game.
“We played hard but with a few questionable calls by the referees, we came up short,” she said. “When they come here, we will definitely show them that we are the better team.”
Lufkin girl’s next game will be against the College Park Cavaliers on Friday night.
“We have to bounce back and get ready for College Park because we know that will probably be an even tougher game than this one,” said varsity girl’s head coach Antonio Encarnacion.
