The Lady Panthers suffered their second loss of the season Tuesday to the Tyler Lee Lady Raiders.

Early in the game, Tyler Lee’s Ashley Jones scored a goal to give the Lady Raiders a one zero lead at the end of the first half.

Within the first 2 minutes of the second half, Lufkin’s Kendall King was able to push past the Raider’s defense and put the ball in the corner of the net to tie up the game.

Although Lufkin had strong defensive play, Tyler Lee’s Abigail Jameson kicked a 30-yard shot with ten minutes remaining, only to bounce off of the top post and over the goal line ending the game with a score of 2-1.

“We knew this was going to be a tough game,” head coach Juan Encarnacion said. “We played hard and we played our game, we just came up short.”

Tuesday’s game versus Tyler Lee was the end of pre-district games, and according to coach Encarnacion the game was a good challenge to prepare for district games starting on Friday against New Caney.

“This is the kind of team we will see when we get to district,” Encarnacion said. “It really tells us where we are at at this point in the season.”
