After losing to College Park in the first round of district games, Lufkin came back with a vengeance and beat the Cavaliers on their home field 1-0.
In the first half, Lufkin’s Kendelle Porter headed the ball into the goal which was deflected by the goalie until Darcy Jackson followed through with another shot scoring to put the Panthers ahead 1-0.
The Lady Panthers managed to keep the score at 1-0 ending the game with a win that would put them in second place along with College Park.
“This was a big win for us on the road against a good team,” Lufkin coach Antonio Encarnacion said. “The girls played their hearts out this evening. They really wanted this and it’s a huge win.”
The next game for the Lady Panthers will be against one of the top teams in the state, The Woodlands, on Tuesday night at home.
