With the Playoffs on the line, The Lady Panthers faught til they had no more fight left in them, as they dropped a 4-1 decision to the Conroe Lady Tiger in 10 innings of softball play, Tuesday night at Morris Frank Park.
With the game tied at 1-1 after 9 inning of play, The  Lady Tigers came out swinging, with an impressive 3 run inning to give them a 4-1 lead over The Lady Panthers.
Which spoiled a stellar performance  by Lufkin pitcher Starla Deponte, who finished the game with nine strikeouts,  pitching a complete-game in the loss.
Through four innings, Deponte faced just two batters over the minimum and after Conroe posted its first run in the fifth, Deponte and the Lady Panther defense combined for three straight 1-2-3 innings.
“Our kids played hard — both teams played hard. Defensively, we looked very good for about seven innings. Most times, 21 outs are enough to win; tonight it wasn’t. Conroe took the momentum in those last few innings. We have to find a way to get it done no matter how long it takes”, said Coach Slaton.
With the loss, The Lady Pack and Tigers records  now stand at 4-8 a piece with the Lady Tiger holding the tiebreaker .
