After coming strong out of the Lufkin Panther Showcase this weekend, Lufkin came out flat with a 2-0 loss against the John Tyler Lions Tuesday night leaving them 7-5-0 on the season.

Both teams showed up with great mentality but the Lions took over the first half scoring a goal at about midway of the time left and adding another goal from a penalty kick with 10 minutes remaining.

“We didn’t play as well as I expected us to play,” varsity captain Andrew Lees said. “After the way we played during the weekend, I was expecting to get a win tonight.”

It was a tough game and both teams had plenty of chances to score, but John Tyler dominated.

“They were quick and skilled,” Lufkin head coach Russel Shaw said. “We just have to admit we got outplayed tonight.”

The Panthers will be back and on the road this Friday traveling to Katy Taylor for their next game.
