The Lufkin soccer team is starting to pick up some rhythm as evident by their 3-0 victory over the Nacogdoches Dragons in the first game of the Panther showcase . Lufkin managed to shut the Dragons with its impressive defensive performance. Notable players on the defensive side include Michael Wall, Daniel Aguinaga, Julio Islas and Orlando Garcia.

Offensively for the game, Sterling Meyers, Francisco Acevedo and Geoff Barahoma all scored goals for Lufkin. Acevedo started it off by sliding a cross from Meyers in to put Lufkin up 1-0. The next goal was from Meyers this time, as he shot a pass from Barahoma into the right side to add to the lead, 2-0.

Midway through the second half, Lufkin put in its final goal to seal off the game when Acevado sent a rocket to Barahoma, who then struggled with a Nac defender to finalize with another Lufkin score to put Lufkin up 3-0.

Lufkin’s record is 3-2-4, and they will try to improve their record tonight in opposition to Beaumont West Brook.
