The Lufkin Panthers baseball team is off to a fast start at 15-5, including winning five games to win the Clear Creek Tournament March 5-7. In the tournament, the Panthers knocked off ninth ranked Houston Memorial (12-4) on the first day of the tournament.
The Panthers are 6-2 in district play so far this year, including winning all three games against New Caney this season.
“I expected the team to do as well as they are right now,” Head Coach Clay Berry said, “because we had a lot of returning seniors, players coming back from the playoff runs the past two years, and we had some all-district performers back.”
The Panthers will play Conroe again at 6 p.m. Thursday in Conroe.
